Runningdog Rayah Azer
Rayah is a bucket head ……..

Hi guys,

Just an update on Rayah & Aurora:

Rayah ripped his tendon from his L hind leg when he jumped down from a pet wash when he was chained up. The vets operated & believe it has been successfully re-attached but now we have to keep him quiet for & caged for 8 weeks so that it can heel properly. He comes home tomorrow after 6 days at the vets so goodness knows how we’re going to keep this boisterous & happy boy quiet but we’ll do our very best. They did comment however, that he has an absolutely beautiful, gentle nature which they found quite amazing given his breed – we were rather surprised by this comment, but I guess it’s a testament to your breeding & how he’s been socialised. The vets also said he was in excellent health & had fantastic teeth so the diet is obviously contributing to that.

Rayah is so smart it’s ridiculous. We have to lock the front door to keep him out at night! We have a round door handle – yes, round, which he rotates back & forward with his 2 front paws whilst standing up on his hind legs. (Thinking about videoing it for funniest home videos if & when he’s able to still do it when he’s healed.) It’s a great trick when visitors are over as they never cease to be shocked that a dog is opening the door to come in. I haven’t taught him to shut the damn thing behind him though so that’s on the list of things to do.

Aurora has been a wonderful addition to our family & her & Rayah have a very strong bond. She loves Darren (my husband) the most which is a nice balance seeing Rayah is still a mummy’s boy. She is not bright however. 12 months of relentless training & she has finally learnt ‘stay’ but only when associated with food, but she is so gentle, loving & docile (as well as very pretty) that we overlook the fact that she’s basically a ‘dumb blonde’ (apologies all blondes)!

She has found it so hard without her brother with lots of howling going on. She settles better when she’s indoors with us; despite the fact that we have the heater going & the cat’s stretched out in front of it! We’re wondering how she’ll cope seeing her bro back home tomorrow as she has a tendency to lean on him (literally) which she’s not allowed to do at least for the next 2 months. I’m sure she’ll be relieved though.

Not all great news I guess but they’re both still very loved family members who bring so much to our family.

Aurora home at last…

Mates 300709     Playtime 2 300709   Tug o war 230709 Aurora & Rayah are both enjoying each other's company unless food is involved - hardly surprising. Aurora lives on pats and she finds a human lurking around she maneouvres herself to ensure she gets maximum pats before Rayah discovers them. He's still a bit of a mummy's boy and tends to come to me for his pats; although he still thinks Rhi (our 19 year old daughter) is worthy of giving them too. Llew is heartbroken that Rayah no longer wants to play with him now that Aurora is on the seen but it looks much better than a dog and a 6 foot 18 year old playing chasey!
Aurora is a gorgeous girl and we're really grateful that she's joined our family. We're still teaching her the basics of walking (sitting, staying, come), but she's slowly getting there. She's not quite as bright as her brother Rayah who seems to work things out immediately - he learnt how to walk properly after one session, so that's been a little challenging for us, but hey her loving nature certainly makes up for the lack of street smarts :)
She's also loving the car now and both her & Rayah love going for rides. Initially she was terrified and we've had to persist with this to get her to love it as much as Rayah. Now when we open the door to go outside she runs straight to the back of the jeep, very cute.

Rayah Update
Just letting you know that Rayah is fine and I've finally attached some photos of him since his arrival until today. He's about double the size not surprisingly and according to the vet is doing really well (he had his 2nd jab awhile ago & obviously his stitches out) and is soon due for his 3rd jab. We're looking at getting him into puppy pre-school as he is very frightened of other dogs, people, noises, etc. and then we'll all head off to obedience school - although we've already started his training at home, particularly re his walking and he learns very fast.

He's surviving the heat, but only just and with regular showers (of his own undertaking). He is going much blacker, which we're all thrilled about and seems to be getting blacker each day we get up!

Hope you enjoy the photos! Apologies for any duplicates!
